Nightside Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 October 2026Applies to Nightside for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, version 4.0 and later

Nightside is a bedside clock with alarms, weather and clock styles, made by Creo IT Private Limited (“Creo”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Nightside uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. Nightside was previously called ClockIT; this policy covers the app under both names.

You do not need an account or sign-in to use Nightside. Your alarms, settings, selected photos and sounds are stored locally. Some features process information off your device, including AI styles, allowance checks, weather, advertising, purchases and support. This information may include identifiers, purchase-related records and content you choose to provide, as explained below.

1Who is responsible

Creo IT Private Limited, Bengaluru, India, is the developer of Nightside and the controller of the information described here. You can reach us at help@creoit.com.

2Information on your device

Nightside stores the following information locally on your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. Device backups may also contain this information. Limited information is shared when you use the features described in section 3.

  • Alarms: times, repeat days, labels, sounds and snooze settings.
  • Settings and appearance: clock faces, themes, saved styles and preferences.
  • Sun-based clock faces: with location permission, Nightside uses and stores your coordinates locally to calculate the sun’s position. It can also use a selected city or a previously saved location. This feature can use location even when weather is off.
  • Photos you choose as a background, and sounds you add from Files. Nightside reads only the photo or file you pick.
  • Pictures made for your styles, once they reach your device.
  • Voice controls: when you turn on voice “Stop” and “Snooze”, Nightside listens with the microphone only while an alarm is ringing or while you test the feature. Speech recognition runs on your device, and no audio or transcript leaves it.
  • Apple Watch and widgets: Nightside shares your next alarm, alarm switches and (with Premium) the weather between your iPhone, your paired Apple Watch and its widgets. This goes directly between your own devices.
  • Data from the earlier ClockIT app: when you update, your old alarms and themes are copied into Nightside on the device. Nothing is uploaded.

3Information that leaves your device

Describe a Style (AI-generated clock styles)

When you submit a description, such as “a calm blue clock with Roman numerals”, or ask to change a style, Nightside sends:

  • your description and relevant style context, including earlier instructions when you revise a style;
  • device-verification information from Apple’s App Attest to help verify that requests come from a genuine copy of Nightside;
  • Apple’s signed purchase records (your subscription or app-purchase record) and a random install ID, so we can apply your plan’s allowance.

Nightside’s service runs on Cloudflare and sends your text and relevant style context to OpenAI to generate the style and background picture. Any personal information you include in your text will also be processed. Please avoid including names, contact details, health information or other sensitive information.

The service also maintains records to apply allowances and prevent misuse:

  • a count of the styles used on your plan, linked to an ID taken from Apple’s purchase record (or, when that isn’t available, the random install ID), so the allowance follows you across reinstalls and devices;
  • device-verification records and request counts.

Allowance checks can send identifiers, purchase records and device-verification information when the app checks eligibility at launch or when you open Describe a Style, before you submit a description.

OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default. Its abuse-monitoring logs may retain content for up to 30 days, with exceptions for legal or safety reasons. Additional storage depends on the API features and settings used. See OpenAI’s API data controls.

The first-launch screen, “Create a clock that feels like you”, works the same way. You can skip it, and you never need to use Describe a Style.

Weather (Premium)

If you turn on weather, Nightside asks Apple WeatherKit for the conditions at the place you chose.

  • If you choose “Use current location”, iOS asks for permission first. Your coordinates are sent to Apple to obtain weather and identify the place. They are not sent to Nightside’s style service.
  • If you choose a city instead, no location permission is needed. City search uses Apple Maps.
  • Turning weather off stops weather updates. Sun-based clock faces may continue to use location as described above. You can revoke location permission in your device settings.

Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy.

Advertising (free plan only)

The free plan shows ads from Google AdMob. Premium removes ads. Google’s SDK may process IP addresses, approximate location, device identifiers, device and operating-system information, ad interactions, crash logs and performance data to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and maintain and improve its services. See Google’s SDK data disclosure.

  • Tracking permission: Apple’s App Tracking Transparency controls permission for tracking. If you decline, Google’s SDK does not send your advertising identifier (IDFA) in ad requests. Declining does not prevent you from using Nightside.
  • Advertising consent: Google’s consent messages collect separate choices about advertising data use where required, including in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Non-personalised ads may still process information for reporting, fraud prevention and limiting repeat ads; they do not mean that no data is processed.

You can change the tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are made through Apple. Apple does not provide us with your name, Apple Account email address or payment details as part of these purchases. Nightside reads Apple’s signed purchase records on your device to unlock Premium and to recognise people who bought the earlier paid app, and sends those records to our server for style allowance checks, as described above.

Contacting support

If you contact help@creoit.com, we receive your email address, message and any information you send. The app’s email draft includes technical information and relevant app settings, including alarm times; it excludes alarm labels and location coordinates. You can review or remove these details before sending. We use this information to respond and troubleshoot your request.

App Store ratings

Nightside may occasionally show Apple’s standard rating prompt. Any rating goes to Apple, not to us.

4What we don’t do

  • We don’t require an account or contact details to use the app.
  • We don’t sell personal information for money. Advertising disclosures may be considered “sale” or “sharing” under some privacy laws; see sections 3 and 8.
  • We don’t include a separate app-analytics or crash-reporting service. Advertising-provider diagnostics are described in section 3.
  • We don’t use your descriptions to train AI models.
  • We don’t upload your selected photos, imported sounds or microphone audio to our style service.

Creo is based in India, and our providers may process information in other countries, including the United States. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Transfers subject to EEA, UK or Swiss transfer restrictions require an applicable legal mechanism, such as a recognised adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact help@creoit.com for information about the safeguards applicable to your data.

6How long we keep data

  • AI content: processed to generate and revise styles. Provider retention depends on the service and configuration, including OpenAI’s data controls described in section 3.
  • Allowance and security records: retained for enforcing subscription or one-time allowances and preventing abuse. The relevant factors include the allowance period, continuing entitlement and the need to prevent repeated use after reinstalling.
  • Support correspondence: retention depends on resolving the request, related follow-up, disputes and applicable legal obligations.
  • Local data: deleting Nightside removes its local app data. Limited allowance-related information in secure device storage may survive reinstallation; device backups and copies on other devices are managed separately. Uninstalling does not itself delete server or provider records.

8Your choices and rights

  • You can manage available permissions, including location, microphone, speech recognition, notifications, alarms and tracking, in your device settings.
  • You can use Nightside without Describe a Style, weather or voice controls.
  • Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, restrict or object to processing, and receive a portable copy of certain information.
  • Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal. Tracking permission and advertising consent are separate choices.
  • Where applicable US state privacy laws provide these rights, you may also opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, appeal a decision about a privacy request, and exercise your rights without unlawful discrimination.
  • You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise a right, withdraw consent or raise a privacy concern, contact help@creoit.com. We may request limited information needed to verify your request and locate the relevant records, even though Nightside has no accounts. We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any applicable exceptions or extensions.

9Children

Nightside is not directed at children under 13. Local laws may provide additional protections for older children or require parental consent for certain processing. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided information that should not have been collected, contact help@creoit.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

10Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change and revise its date. For material changes, we will provide appropriate notice, such as an in-app notice or release notes, and obtain consent before new processing where required by law.
