Help & FAQFor Nightside on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch

Help for Nightside, the bedside clock with alarms and weather for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, made by Creo IT Private Limited. Nightside was previously called ClockIT.

1Contact us

Email help@creoit.comWe usually reply within 2 business days.

The quickest way is from the app: open Settings › Help › Contact support. Nightside prepares an email with your app version, device and alarm settings, so we can help sooner. You can read and edit everything before you send it. Alarm labels and your location are never included.

Nightside needs iOS or iPadOS 16 or later. The Apple Watch app needs watchOS 10 or later.

2Alarms

My alarm didn’t ring. What should I check?

  • Open Settings › Alarms › Check alarm setup. It shows whether iOS allows Nightside to ring alarms, and how to fix it if not.
  • Tap Send a test alert and lock your iPhone to hear how an alarm sounds when Nightside is closed.
  • Check that the alarm’s switch is on and that it doesn’t show “Won’t ring”. An alarm’s switch turns on only once iOS confirms it is scheduled.

One successful test doesn’t guarantee every later alarm. Test again after changing Silent mode, Focus, volume or headphones.

How are alarms delivered?

It depends on your iOS version:

  • iOS 26 and later: alarms are delivered by iOS as system alarms. Once you allow alarms for Nightside, they ring even when your iPhone is locked, silenced or in a Focus.
  • iOS 16 to iOS 25: alarms are delivered as notifications. Allow notifications for Nightside, keep Sounds and Time Sensitive on, and set the banner style to Persistent in Settings › Notifications › Nightside. With Nightside closed, Silent mode and Focus can mute an alarm, so check them before bed. Keeping Nightside open on screen, for example in Bedside mode, lets the alarm ring in the app.

Nightside can’t read your Silent mode or Focus settings, so it can’t confirm them for you.

I said no when Nightside asked to ring alarms

iOS only lets you change this in Settings. Open Settings › Nightside and allow Alarms (iOS 26 and later) or Notifications (earlier versions). Your alarms stay saved and are scheduled as soon as you come back to Nightside.

How long does an alarm ring? How does snooze work?

An alarm ringing in Nightside rings for up to 5 minutes, then snoozes itself, or stops if snooze is off for that alarm. You can set the snooze length for each alarm, and the default in Settings › Alarms. “Cancel snooze” cancels only that alarm, not its repeating schedule.

Can I skip the next alarm?

On iOS 26 and later, yes, for a repeating alarm: choose Skip next alarm, and the following one is kept. On earlier versions this isn’t available, because the later alarms couldn’t be restored reliably. Turn the alarm off and on again instead.

Voice “Stop” and “Snooze”

Turn on voice controls for an alarm, and say “Stop” or “Snooze” while it rings in Nightside. Nightside listens only while an alarm is ringing or while you test the feature, and speech recognition runs entirely on your device. It needs microphone and speech recognition access. If voice isn’t working, check Settings › Nightside, and that Dictation is on in Settings › General › Keyboard.

Can I use my own alarm sound?

Yes. In an alarm’s Sound options, choose Add from Files and trim up to 29 seconds. Music protected by Apple Music can’t be used. With Nightside closed, a notification alarm plays the sound once; with Nightside open, it repeats while the alarm rings.

3Bedside mode

Bedside mode is a dim, black clock for the night. Swipe on the clock, or use the brightness slider, to dim it. To keep the screen on all night, turn on Settings › General › Keep screen on in Bedside mode and keep your iPhone charging, as it uses more battery.

4Weather

Weather says “Weather unavailable” or “Weather service unreachable”

  • Weather comes with Premium, and needs an internet connection.
  • Choose a city in Settings › Weather › Location, or allow location access for “Use current location”.
  • Weather older than 2 hours is marked out of date, and after 6 hours without fresh data Nightside shows “Weather unavailable”.
  • Settings › Help › Weather troubleshooting walks you through the rest.

Weather data is provided by Apple Weather.

5Premium and purchases

What’s free, and what does Premium add?

Free includes the Moderno clock style, one alarm, voice Stop and Snooze, Bedside mode and the Next Alarm widget. The free plan shows ads.

Premium adds every clock style, Customise, Describe a Style, weather, unlimited alarms, the Apple Watch weather glance and Bedside remote, and removes all ads. It is available monthly or yearly; prices are shown in the app in your currency.

I bought ClockIT before it became free

Premium is included for life, at no charge. Nightside checks your App Store record automatically. If Premium isn’t on, open Settings › Nightside Premium and choose Check my purchase, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.

Restore, manage or cancel a subscription

  • Restore: open the Premium screen and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you subscribed with.
  • Manage or cancel: Settings › Nightside Premium › Manage subscription, or your Apple Account subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com.

Purchases are made through Apple, so we can’t see your payment details or issue refunds ourselves.

6Describe a Style (AI clock styles)

How does it work?

Describe the clock you want, such as “warm sunset hands” or “minimal black dial”, and Nightside designs a clock face and, when it suits the style, paints a background picture. Preview it on your Home screen, then keep it or try again. You can change a generated clock in words twice without using up a style.

How many styles can I make?

  • Free: one clock made for you when you first open Nightside, once per Apple Account.
  • Monthly and yearly Premium: 10 a month.
  • Premium for life (earlier ClockIT customers): 10 a month, starting over on the 1st.

Describe a Style shows how many you have left and when the count starts over. Unused styles don’t roll over. A request that fails doesn’t count.

What happens to what I type?

Your description is sent to Nightside’s server and to OpenAI to design the style. It isn’t stored on our server, and nothing that identifies you is sent with it. Please don’t include personal details. See the privacy policy for details.

7Apple Watch

  • The Watch app shows your next alarm and lets you switch alarms on and off. Your iPhone stays in charge: a switch moves once the phone confirms it.
  • When an alarm rings, Snooze and Stop work from your wrist.
  • With Premium, the Watch also shows the weather and works as a Bedside remote. The remote works only while Nightside is open on your iPhone.
  • If the Watch shows nothing, open Nightside on your iPhone once, with the Watch nearby.

8Widgets

Add Nightside’s widgets from the Home Screen: touch and hold an empty area, tap Edit › Add Widget, and choose Nightside. The Next Alarm widget shows your next alarm, and the Bedside widget opens Nightside straight into Bedside mode.

9Updating from ClockIT

When you update, your alarms, custom themes and settings are copied into Nightside. Some older alarm tones are replaced by similar new ones, and Nightside tells you which. Weather settings aren’t carried over, so choose your city again in Settings › Weather.
